GOTS CERTIFICATION & AT WONNA
GOTS CERTIFICATION
It is well known that the textile industry faces numerous environmental and social challenges. To address these issues, there are various certifications that regulate different aspects of the textile value chain. One of these certifications is the GOTS certification (Global Organic Textile Standard). GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. The GOTS certification builds upon several key features, all ensuring environmental and social responsibility.
GOTS mandates the use of at least 70% organic fibers in GOTS-certified products. This leads to a reduction of harmful chemicals, protecting soil, and minimizing water pollution through strict controls on toxic dyes and waste management. GOTS enforces fair labor practices, adhering to International Labour Organization standards, ensuring safe working conditions, fair wages, and prohibiting child labor. All steps in the processing, manufacturing and trading of organic textiles are covered by GOTS.
ORGANIC FIBERS
Organic fibers are natural fibers grown following organic agriculture principles without the use of synthetic pesticides such as insecticides, or herbicides and GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). This type of agriculture sustains the health of ecosystems, soils and people.
The GOTS certification has two label grades: organic and made with organic. The organic label requires a textile product to contain at least 95% certified organic fibers, while the made with organic label demands a minimum of 70% certified organic fibers. In both cases, the remaining fibers must meet strict criteria per GOTS requirements.

GOTS & AT WONNA
We use GOTS-certified fabrics in our basics, most of these fabrics carry the GOTS organic label, ensuring 95% organic fiber content. The GOTS certification ensures that the fabrics we use have been produced in a responsible way.
Our final products are not GOTS certified. For a product to be GOTS certified, every stage of production must be carried out by certified suppliers. For our products, the pattern making, cutting, and sewing are done by producers in Sweden, which are not GOTS certified.
We believe that by combining GOTS-certified fabrics with local, high quality craftsmanship, we are producing the best possible products. Local production adds significant value to our supply chain. By keeping production close, we are able to produce lower quantities, reducing overproduction. Local production also means that materials and products are transported as little as possible, minimizing transport emissions. Additionally, working with local partners allows us to maintain close cooperation, ensuring that our high quality standards are met. All our partners in Sweden adhere to Swedish labor and environmental laws.
